I don't know how many Darklings have small children. But this is the one programme on Cbeebies that I can not stand. In order to get through it I find myself imagining various unpleasant fates awaiting the characters within it.

I'll start off mildly -

The Tombliboos served with an ASBO for disturbing the peace.

Anyone else driven to distraction by it? This is the place to let your imagination run free.

Haha I like In the Night Garden (my 5 year old sister used to make me watch it all the time and i used to work with kids so I have an excuse)

Makka Pakka and his OCD is quite funny - polishing the stones in your back garden is a sure sign of madness, surely?

What about Iggle Piggle suffocating people with that blanket, or Upsy Daisy being arrested for public indecency, what with the blow up skirt and the kissing random strangers.

and what I always used to wonder about was.... Mr and Mrs Pontipine appear to have an ever growing number of kids, yet dont even sleep in the same bed. hmm.

Don't judge me cos I know all this crap, but when my colleagues and I had to endure hours of this program while waiting for the bus to pick up the kids, you did start to think about this stuff.

I've only seen In The Night Garden a few times, and it gives me the fear something terrible.

My theory is this travesty was created by some very warped minds as cruel vengance after being told they were no longer allowed to touch children in that way.

And that's before we go anywhere near the implied racist and sexist subtext.

Time for some more...

Makka Pakka loses it and starts using his stone collection as weapons.

Upsy Daisy's easy virtue leading to a widespread STD problem.

A neighborly dispute between the Pontipines and Wottingers develops into full scale civil war.

Widespread civil unrest leads to a curfew, with the police enforcing it with a shoot on sight policy ....unfortunately Iggle Piggles not in bed.

This is awesome.

Iggle Piggle's not in bed *bang!*

The Tombliboos received their ASBO for threatening to pop the hah-hoos with pins, taking the pinkyponk for a joyride to knock some sense into those pesky singing birds, and using part of the Ninkynonk as a pretend Tardis.

P.S cometcycle I like your avatar :D

I'm glad I haven't proved to be a lone voice in this one Meemz. And I'm liking the causes of the ASBO  I had thought of Ninkynonk/Pinkyponk accidents but not possible causes.
Thank you for bringing the Hah-hoos into it as I couldn't think away of involving them. However as you've reminded me thet are essential large balloons, how about -
Iggle Piggle rubbing his blanket against them which builds up a massive static electricity charge leading to disastrous consequences?

PS The avatar is simply the latest Magnum album cover, but I'd love to own a clock of that design.

I love Magnum, i love Kingdom of Madness, Rockin Chair and On a Storyteller's Night... ooh and Vigilante!

and LOL about the static charge, he might short-circuit the PinkyPonk leading to it crashing into Makka Pakka's house.

But what if the Night Garden emergency services turn out? How weird is that likely to be?

And when the NG PD start beating the witnesses.... oh my.

xx

Night Garden flash mob is the spiritual successor to Trumpton Riots.

which starts a fire that tears through the night garden at an alarming pace after a long dry summer. Attempts to get it under control are hampered by a water shortage, largely caused by the previously mentioned obsessive cleaning of Makka Pakka.

PS. Glad to find a fellow Magnum fan on here. :P

Makka Pakka goes to the doctors and is diagnosed with an anal and three large brain tumors, they're in-operable. He should have had those growths looks at years ago.

Oh I give up. The programme was on when I got home. There were 8 Pontipines in Upsy Daisies bed (presumably all under age). They were then tipped out when the bed crashed and returned home via the Chimney of their house. Does this mean Mr & Mrs Pontipine are cannibals and were looking forward to a roasted feast?

In The Night Garden scares the shit out of me. I honestly can't tell you why, but it terrifies me! I had to watch it recently, with a little boy I look after, and got totally freaked...it's horrible. He, however, loved it

MakinOut87 posted this video in the other thread, and I find it hilarious that Dan is actually singing the theme tune to In The Night Garden at around 2:20.

I had forgotten about my older brother's irrational... or perhaps perfectly rational hatred for this show.

I think the length of the thread proves how rational I am!
