Thank you Bean, what do you think to my Lady Gaga tip??

Not a bad shout eh?

The fact they aren't revealing the guest's identity must mean it's gonna be more of a shock than used and tried Brian May..... Right? :?

I can't see it being Lady Gaga to be honest, although she seems to be a fan of them from what I've read. I certainly wouldn't be averse to the idea though, I don't mind GaGa. I can envision some sort of massive operatic rock song.

Justin/Dan are friends of Brian, and they did have plans to do things together other than the Hammersmith show. It really wouldn't surprise me if it was him, and I wouldn't be disappointed either. Fantastic guitar player and got a nice voice too.

Then again, Justin has worked with several acts over the last few years, both writing and performing. It could be anyone from Eric Nally to Marvin Lee Aday to Lady GaGa.

Does anyone have the original link to when the 'guest performer' was mentioned by the band?

UK iTunes "Deluxe Edition" includes the music videos for Nothing's Gonna Stop Us and Everybody Have a Good Time.

Full tracklisting of UK iTunes version is the deluxe edition we've already known about + videos.

The USA iTunes store has no mention of Hot Cakes - yet. Also decided to check Japan because sometimes Asia gets weird bonus tracks and stuff to stop them importing stuff, usually Japan!

I saw the currency and laughed! 1500 yen! Oh and it's also expected to be available from August 15th there! :? Any Japanese fans here want to leak the album for us?! Those 2-5 days extra... you know? ;)

As a matter of fact in the Asian iTunes Stores I could only find the standard edition available for pre-order and no "Every Inch" single, only "Everybody Have a Good Time"!

Those longer samples have improved my opinions on a couple of the tracks that I didn't put 'top of the pile' initially, based on the very truncated Amazon samples.

Here's a thought.....Cannonball missing on all the samples...so could that be the guest performer appearance on that track then?...and they don't wanna let the cat out of the bag yet on it? Whaddya think? I predicted Brian May at the Hammersmith Apollo weeks before it happened....I feel like I'm on a roll!

Seems I'm still on my roll guys!..lol. Been on hols and just got back to read up on the pre-order packs etc....and no one else seems to have noticed the track listings then?!

Cannonball (feat. Ian Anderson)

There's your guest performer right there....and it is Cannonball which is why it's been missing from samples on purpose I suspect.

So, Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson....my brother will be made up...he's a great Darkness and Tull fan and I also recently went with him to see Ian Anderson perform 'Thick As A Brick' at Hammersmith Apollo.

Now...Mr Anderson is 63 and unfortunately his singing voice has now largely gone, but as he is still a fantastic flutist, I'm therefore assuming there may well be some 'rock flute' on the 'long' version of Cannonball. ;)

God...at this rate, I seriously need to start buying lottery tickets again each week!!

 Yes, you're right!

I've just found interviews, in which Anderson talks about his collaboration with The Darkness. Anderson have been saying that since February 2012! It has been under our nose for so long

(and right at the end of the interview, Ian drops this little bombshell, or should that be cannonball..) Here's one for you - when the new album from the Darkness appears, you may find Ian Anderson on a track called 'Cannonball', look out for it, unless of course it was so awful they decide to leave it out in the mix! They're a good band, when they asked me to play I thought I'd better check them out to see if they're in good fettle, and they definitely are. They're a band that is quite uniquely British!

“All of us wear some sort of disguise. I certainly used to dress up on stage, because it was all part of the show. I recently played on a track with the Darkness and looking them up beforehand, I thought how great it was that they were into all the catsuits, the OTT contemporary glam. It’s refreshing to imagine someone spending half an hour getting into character to go on stage. It’s entertaining in a world full of drab people. I enjoy Coldplay buy they’re only one step up from Marks & Spencer.”

Another even more interesting interview:

Ian Anderson: " [...] So I decided to play with a flute d'amour, which is pitched in a lower key and has a much more somber sound, just to give it a little more variation, so it didn't quite sound the same as her flute playing. I used the same instrument, in fact, when I played on [another] song by the English band The Darkness. I used this flute to contrast with the lead singer's high rock tenor and falsetto. I didn't want to be in the same register as him with the high notes of the flute. You make those choices. But I'm still having to think that the reason they asked me to play on their song is because they're looking for that Ian Anderson rock flute. But I don't want to just give them the obvious thing — I've got to put a twist on it and make it fit the song."

Well I think the reason we didn't notice was because it wasn't on the track listing in the merchandise section of the site at first.

So we all launched into debate here and now here we are.

On the subject of guessing games... Now we have solved that mystery performer lets see if we can work out who I am! Who is Dark Matter? I wonder.

I may have made few posts. But I've been around a lot longer than you think.

Classic Rock Magazine gives Hot Cakes 9/10.

I would scan the review but I can't. The magazine is available now everywhere in the UK as of today.

Did I imagine this, or do I remember reading somewhere that WITH A WOMAN would be a single sometime soon?

No, you're not the only one. I believe it was set to be released as a single at the end of July, if I'm not mistaken.
